I had a wonderful weekend competing at the Port Pirie Come See Change Masters Games! Super proud of my local dressage club, Southern Flinders Dressage Club, for doing such an amazing job of hosting the equestrian events.
On the Saturday we had two dressage rings running, and then on the Sunday both hacking and showjumping.
Dom was excellent, with only one or two ‘Dom moments’.
On the Sunday we came away with a 62% and 65% in the HRCAV level 3 dressage tests. Come Saturday, we competed in Open Hacking, HRCAV Hacking and Showjumping. This was Dom’s first jumping competition since the Quorn Ag Show last year! He can be a bit spooky, but I was very glad that he jumped the jump with the blue block filler without stopping…especially since I had donated the blue blocks! If he’d stopped at him I would have been very unhappy 😛
We finished the weekend with a total of 16 Gold medals and 1 Silver…which is a huge amount, but please keep in mind there were 7 or 8 classes where I was the only one in my age group/level!
Lots of great feedback from competitors about the fun, laid back atmosphere of the competition. Best of all (in my mind), as part of Masters Games sponsorship the dressage club now have 14 permanent yards set up on the grounds – these are going to be so handy at our monthly dressage competitions!
A bit thank you once again to all the hard working volunteers who made this weekend possible.
